Implant Placement & Restoration
Complete implant placement and restoration done in-house — surgery, healing, and final crown by Dr. Carroll under one roof, no specialist referrals.
The Complete Implant Process — Under One Roof
Most dental offices send you somewhere else for the surgical part of an implant. You see one specialist for the placement, wait several months, then come back to your regular dentist for the crown. Two offices. Two records. A lot of running around.
Dr. Carroll handles the entire process here at River Street Dental — from the initial planning, to the surgical placement, to the final crown. That's eighteen years of oral surgery experience plus the everyday restorative work, all in one place.
Why It Matters That We Do It All
Doing both the surgery and the restoration here — instead of splitting them between offices — has real advantages for you:
One point of contact, start to finish.
You're not bouncing between offices, repeating your story, or wondering who has your records. Dr. Carroll knows your whole case from day one.
Better treatment planning.
When the same person who places the implant also designs the crown, the result fits better, looks better, and works better. The two stages are planned together from the start.
Fewer appointments.
No referrals, no extra consultations at a different office. You come here, and we handle it all.
Lower total cost in many cases.
Since you're not paying for two separate offices to handle the case, the overall cost is often lower than the traditional split-treatment model.
You already know us.
You're not getting handed off to a stranger for the surgical part. You're working with the team you already trust.
What the Process Looks Like
Every case is a bit different, but here's what the typical implant journey looks like at River Street Dental:
- 1We start with a thorough exam and 3D imaging. Dr. Carroll uses our 3D Cefla CT scan to map out exactly where the implant should go — taking into account your jawbone, nerves, and surrounding teeth.
- 2We sit down together and talk through the plan. You'll know exactly what's going to happen, how long it'll take, and what it will cost before we start.
- 3On the day of the surgery, the area is numbed and the implant is carefully placed into the jawbone. The procedure itself usually takes about an hour. You go home the same day with detailed care instructions.
- 4Over the next 3 to 6 months, the implant integrates with your bone — a process called osseointegration. This is what gives the implant its strength and permanence.
- 5Once everything's healed, you come back for the final restoration. Dr. Carroll places the abutment (the connector piece) and the custom crown. By the time you leave, your new tooth is fully functional.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the entire implant process take?
From start to finish, most implant cases take 3 to 6 months. The implant itself is placed in a single appointment, but the bone needs time to heal and integrate with the implant before the final crown is placed. Dr. Carroll will give you a detailed timeline based on your specific case.
Is implant surgery painful?
Most patients are surprised at how comfortable it is. Dr. Carroll uses local anesthesia to numb the area, and the procedure itself is quicker than people expect. Some mild soreness for a few days afterward is normal, but most patients only need over-the-counter pain relievers.
Why do you do both placement and restoration in-house?
Most dental offices send patients to a specialist for the surgery, then handle the crown afterward. That means two offices, two opinions, and a lot of back-and-forth. We do the whole thing here. It means better continuity of care, fewer appointments, and a single point of contact for your treatment.
How much does an implant cost?
Implant costs vary based on the case, the materials, and how many implants you need. We're upfront about pricing and we'll give you a clear estimate before any work begins. We also offer payment plans.
